  • Competition: Serie A
  • Date: Monday, 19th August 2024
  • Kickoff: 19:45 UK / 20:45 CEST
  • Venue: Allianz Stadium (Turin)

Last season was Juventus' best since lifting their last Serie A title in 2020. The Turin club finished third in one of the most popular European leagues, so Juventus secured a return to the Champions League. The goal for the upcoming year is to win another Serie A title and to have a relevant role in the Champions League.

Juventus' ambitions are big, but during the preseason they were far from adequate level as their only win in four friendlies came against Juventus U23. In the last test, Thiago Motta's team lost 2-0 against Atletico Madrid.

The upcoming season will be the first since 2002/03 for Como in the strongest Italian league. Cesc Fabregas' team is one of the weakest teams in Serie A, so their main goal should be to avoid relegation. Como had a very good preseason, as they had three wins, one draw, and two defeats. However, in the first official game of the new season, last weekend in Coppa Italia, Como lost after penalties on the road against Sampdoria. Fabregas' team lost that match, but the last few weeks and a lot of quality performances during preseason should give them a lot of confidence ahead of the opening round.

Juventus vs Como pick: Como to cover AH +1.5 spread

Como is surely one of the weakest teams in Serie A, but Juventus didn't play well in the preseason, so the guests should cover AH +1.5 spread.

Juventus team news

Massimiliano Allegri left Juventus this summer, and in his place came Thiago Motta, who spent the last few years with Bologna. The new head coach usually means reconstruction of the team, so this summer, Juventus left Adrien Rabiot, Wojciech Szczesny, and Moise Kean. On the other hand, Juventus so far signed Douglas Luiz (who came from Aston Villa), Khephren Thuram (Nice), and Juan Cabal (Verona).

Fabio Miretti and Vasilije Adzic are injured and will not play in the upcoming tie against Como.

Como

Como team news

Como is a new team in Serie A, and they signed a lot of players this summer in an attempt to make a competitive team. Surely, the biggest addition is Raphael Varane, who came from Manchester United. The other significant signings are Alberto Dossena (Cagliari), Yannick Engelhardt (Fortuna Dusseldorf), Emil Audero (Sampdoria), Alieu Fadera (Genk), and Alberto Moreno (Villarreal).

Raphael Varane is injured and will not debut for Como until early September. The rest of the team should be healthy.
